Flexible Galvanized Steel Brace Band for Chain Link Fence

This flexible brace band is supplied as a pierced galvanized steel strip that can be formed around a round chain link post or rail. One image shows flat strips beside a completed circular form, and the second shows two flat bands with a hole at each end. This is different from the preformed 1-3/8 and 1-1/2 inch brace-band product and should have its own drawing, forming limit, and installation procedure.

Current Product Reference

Request the current strip length, width, thickness, hole diameter, hole centers, end geometry, steel grade, coating, minimum forming radius, and tolerance. The legacy two-inch and 48 mm wording is a selection reference, not proof that one strip fits every nominal two-inch pipe or post.

Calculate Whether the Strip Can Close Around the Member

Measure actual outside diameter, including galvanizing, paint, sleeves, or repair coatings. Confirm the strip has enough developed length for the circumference, end bends, ear overlap or gap, and bolted connection. A strip that reaches around the post may still be unsuitable if the holes cannot align, the ears sit at the wrong angle, or the bend concentrates stress at a hole.

Control Forming Instead of Bending by Guesswork

Use an approved former, mandrel, or controlled fixture that supports the strip and creates the required radius without kinks or twists. Do not repeatedly bend and straighten the same part. Inspect the inside and outside bend surfaces, hole edges, and end transitions for cracking, necking, coating damage, or permanent distortion. If factory forming is required, include the target outside diameter and final ear geometry in the RFQ.

Define the Mating Fitting and Fastener

State what the band connects, where it sits on the fence, and which bolt, nut, washer, rail end, brace fitting, or bracket completes the assembly. Confirm hole clearance, bolt length, tightening method, and whether hardware is included. This flexible strip does not have an automatic load rating simply because it can be wrapped around a post. Structural or safety-related use requires review of the complete connection.

Protect the Finish After Forming

Pre-galvanized steel can expose or thin protection at cut edges, holes, and severe bends. Specify the final corrosion route, field repair, optional powder-coat color and gloss, and any environmental requirement. Avoid unsupported fixed-year no-rust claims because exposure, forming, fasteners, drainage, installation damage, and maintenance influence performance. Approve a formed and finished sample for demanding sites.

Flat strips pack differently from formed bands. Confirm whether supply is flat, partly formed, or finished to diameter; pieces per bundle; separators; bolt kits; carton labels; package weight; and destination. Send the measured post or rail OD, target formed shape, strip drawing, hole and bolt requirements, quantity, finish, sample need, packing marks, delivery address, and target date.
