5" Flat Round Pre-Galvanized Steel Fence Post Cap

This 5 inch flat round pre-galvanized steel fence post cap is the largest size in the current low-profile pressed-cap group. It is intended for measured round steel posts used at terminals, gates, heavy perimeter sections, and selected bollard applications. The broad top and shallow rim cover an open post end, but final fit depends on the real outside diameter, roundness, coating buildup, rim depth, and attachment method.

Measure Large-Diameter Posts by Actual Outside Diameter

Do not convert a nominal pipe or tube description into a cap order without measuring the installed or specified post. Take outside-diameter readings in more than one direction and at several posts. Record out-of-round sections, weld seams, dents, burrs, heavy galvanizing, paint, and any flare near the top. For replacement work, compare the 5 inch reference with an approved physical sample because older posts may not follow the current supply tolerance.

Coordinate Terminal, Gate, and Bollard Locations

Separate the takeoff by post role. Gate hinge posts, latch posts, corner posts, terminal posts, and bollards may share a visual diameter while using different wall sections or top details. Confirm whether every location accepts the same outside-fit cap and whether access-control wiring, drainage, concrete fill, or internal hardware occupies the opening. A post cap is not an impact-rated bollard component unless the project specification separately establishes that performance.

Define Pre-Galvanized, Hot-Dip, or Powder-Coated Scope

Pre-galvanized sheet, a finished hot-dip galvanized cap, and a powder-coated cap are different finish scopes. State which one is required and whether cut edges, pressed rims, or attachment points need additional protection. For exposed or corrosive sites, provide the environment and coating requirement instead of assuming the pre-galvanized product name proves a particular service life. Powder-coated orders need a color, gloss, pretreatment, and touch-up reference.

Protect the Wide Rim During Bulk Packing

Large caps can nest efficiently, but excessive nesting pressure can mark the top or distort the shallow side wall. Specify separators, pieces per stack, pieces per carton, carton marks, and maximum package weight. Receiving teams should inspect diameter, top shape, rim continuity, finish, count, and labels before the caps are distributed to multiple fence runs. Keep an approved sample available for later project phases.
