A replacement hinge, wheel or bracket can look right and still be wrong for the assembly. Before ordering, connect the damaged part to its original specification and the components around it. A purchasing description such as black gate hinge is not enough to confirm fit, capacity or safe operation.
Build a Part Identification File
Give each affected location a simple reference, such as Gate G2, upper hinge, viewed from the property side. Avoid left or right without stating the viewing direction. Include these items in one request:
- Order or invoice number, project name, product code, affected quantity and any readable part markings.
- An overall installation photo, a view of the part in place and close-ups of its connections and damage.
- Approved drawing number and revision, parts schedule and any documented field modifications.

Confirm Function and Load, Not Just Dimensions
State whether the gate swings, slides or cantilevers, plus its leaf dimensions, documented weight, infill and operating arrangement. Identify later additions such as privacy panels, signs or access equipment. Ask the responsible installer or project engineer to confirm the replacement's load suitability and mounting compatibility.
