Map the space before selecting a nominal size
For a restaurant terrace, record the tables that need shade and the hours they are occupied. For a school or commercial courtyard, identify the actual activity area and surrounding circulation. Add a north arrow, nearby buildings, trees, and the proposed attachment locations to the plan. Coverage changes with the sun's position, so a roof-plan outline alone is not an approval of useful shade.
EONE offers triangle, square, and rectangle shade sails as separate RFQ product lines. Use those shapes to organize the brief, then confirm finished dimensions from the coordinated project geometry. Do not select a large sail merely because it appears to cover the area in a product illustration.
Measure mounting points in three dimensions
Identify every attachment point with a letter or number, record its position and elevation, and show the distances needed to define the layout. For four-corner arrangements, provide diagonals as well as side measurements. State whether measurements refer to mounting points, corner-ring locations, or finished fabric dimensions.
Coolaroo advises allowing space for tensioning hardware when measuring between mounting points. Agree the actual allowances with the proposed assembly designer; a generic deduction is not a substitute for a project drawing. Sloping ground changes support heights, access, and clearances, not simply the shape name on the purchase order.
Confirm the supporting design and hardware boundary
Have the responsible designer review the support arrangement, attachment loads, foundations where required, wind exposure, and local requirements. Existing walls, posts, or other landscape structures should not be assumed suitable. A fabric component with stainless steel rings is not evidence of the capacity of the overall installed system.
- List each corner connection and the required tensioning interface.
- Distinguish supplied hardware from items purchased or fabricated by others.
- Coordinate disconnection access for inspection or agreed seasonal removal.
- Check nearby equipment, heat sources, vegetation, and movement routes.
- Record who approves the installation design and site measurements.
A matched package means that interfaces are reviewed together, not that every support, accessory, or engineering service is included automatically.
Select fabric using more than weight
Current EONE descriptions offer breathable HDPE in 170-350 GSM with reinforced edges and 304 stainless steel D-rings. Confirm the chosen fabric grade, color, edge construction, and finished sail details in the quote. Ask for relevant fabric evidence when shade or UV performance is a purchasing condition.
GALE's Commercial Light 220 data separates shade factor and UVR block and reports color-specific values. It is a useful example of the questions to ask, not data for EONE fabric. Do not assume breathable material provides rainproof shelter or a verified fire rating.
Approve the order and receiving plan
Review a swatch or construction sample for color, feel, edge reinforcement, and ring interface. Keep the sample reference with the dimensioned drawing and corner schedule. Confirm packing marks so the correct sail reaches the correct area of the site.
Door-to-door or site delivery can be arranged in the written quotation. Provide truck access, receiving hours, unloading arrangements, and storage conditions. Installation, lifting or crane service, duties, and every accessory are not automatically included. Request samples and submit the measured layout and delivery details for a coordinated quote.
