Fence Windscreen: Privacy, Fabric Weight and Project Value

Understand what fence-windscreen weight and visual blockage describe, and why edge construction and the supporting fence deserve equal attention.

The darkest-looking fence screen is not automatically the best purchase. A contractor may need to reduce views into a work area, while a sports facility may want a more consistent background and a rental company may prioritize repeated handling. These are different briefs, even when every buyer asks for privacy mesh.

Read Weight and Blockage Separately

EONE's current fence-windscreen examples use knitted high-density polyethylene, or HDPE. Listed combinations include 145 GSM with 80% visual blockage, 180 GSM with 90% visual blockage and 220 GSM with 95% visual blockage. GSM describes fabric mass per unit area. The listed blockage percentage describes a different characteristic and should be confirmed against the approved material specification.

Do not read a visual-blockage percentage as an equivalent reduction in wind force or as a certified UV-protection result. Lighting, viewing angle, material color and what sits behind the screen affect its apparent privacy. Ask for the relevant test method and supporting data when a measured performance value is essential to the project.

Look Beyond the Middle of the Fabric

The finished screen includes more than the mesh. Reinforced hems, binding, seams, grommets and corners form the attachment interface. Ball Fabrics' manufacturer information also treats edge reinforcement and grommets as separate construction details. That is useful buying context, not proof that two suppliers' screens perform identically.

  • Specify finished dimensions after edge construction, not only nominal roll width.
  • Choose grommet material and layout against the agreed attachment method.
  • Review the hem and corner sample for consistency and workmanship.
  • Identify printed and unprinted sections so appearance expectations are clear.

A long continuous section may reduce the number of joins, while smaller identified sections can simplify gate separation, replacement and phased installation. The right balance depends on the layout and handling plan rather than a universal preferred length.

Keep the Supporting Fence in the Decision

A privacy screen changes an open fence into a more covered surface. The project team must review the posts, panels, connections, supports and foundations for the actual arrangement. Breathable mesh is not a waiver of that review. Neither a fabric's GSM nor a premium product name establishes a fence-system wind rating.

Keep ordinary screening separate from requirements for debris containment, fall protection or fire performance. Those functions require their own specification and evidence. Do not assume them from the words construction screen.

EONE's Factory-Direct Approach

EONE can review custom finished sizes, colors, graphics, edge details and packaging for a coordinated order. Pricing value comes from matching the approved screen to its intended service and limiting unnecessary material or unplanned site alterations. Compare offers with the same finished construction and delivered scope, including any separately quoted attachment supplies.

EONE's View: Make Performance Terms Clearer

Our view is that windscreen specifications should clearly separate visual blockage, fabric weight and documented test performance. A buyer should not have to guess what a percentage means. Share field feedback about fit, visibility, hem wear and labeling so the specification review can draw on actual installation experience.

Review the fence-windscreen range, request physical samples, and send the project requirements for a configuration-specific quote.
