Start with the area people actually use
A shade sail is a tensioned fabric component that can help define a patio, dining area, courtyard, or outdoor waiting space. Its usefulness depends on where the shade falls when the space is occupied, not only on the outline seen from above. The fabric, finished geometry, attachment locations, and supporting structure all contribute to the project result.
EONE's shade sail collection has three separate product lines: custom triangle, custom square, and custom rectangle sails. Current descriptions specify breathable HDPE fabric in 170-350 GSM, reinforced edges, and 304 stainless steel D-rings. Finished dimensions, color, hardware requirements, packaging, and quantities are confirmed through RFQ.
Shape sets the starting geometry
- Triangle sails can work with three planned attachment locations and offer a distinct angular layout, but coverage still needs checking at the intended hours.
- Square sails suit broadly balanced layouts where four suitable attachment locations can be coordinated.
- Rectangle sails provide a starting point for longer patios or dining areas, subject to the support and tensioning design.
Do not assume the fabric should be ordered at the same dimensions as the distance between supports. Hardware and tensioning space affect the fit. Coolaroo's measuring guidance distinguishes mounting-point measurements from sail size; an EONE order still requires its own approved finished dimensions and attachment arrangement.
Fabric weight is not a complete performance rating
GSM describes fabric mass per unit area. It does not by itself establish shade factor, UV performance, tear strength, or the load capacity of the installed system. GALE Commercial publishes these as separate characteristics across its fabric range. Use that separation when requesting information for the proposed EONE fabric and color; another manufacturer's results cannot be transferred to it.
Breathable knitted HDPE should not be specified as a waterproof roof. If keeping furniture dry is essential, state that need at the start instead of assuming a heavier shade fabric solves it. Likewise, claims about fire performance, wind resistance, or particular UV percentages require appropriate evidence for the actual supplied product.
EONE's view: make the approval record more useful
Our view is that shade sail purchasing should place more emphasis on measurement conventions, corner identification, and fabric-specific evidence. A large nominal size and a color image leave too much unresolved. A clear drawing linked to an approved swatch and a defined hardware scope gives both the buyer and installer a better reference.
EONE's flexible, factory-direct approach supports custom size, fabric grade, color, edge details, hardware review, and packaging discussions. Coordinating the fabric, finished dimensions, corner hardware, and packing gives buyers a defined package to price and compare. Where the quotation covers only the sail and selected accessories, support design and the complete engineered canopy system remain separate project responsibilities.
Review samples and the supporting design
The project designer must address supports, attachments, foundations where needed, site loads, and local requirements. A fabric sail and D-rings do not establish those capacities. Include maintenance access and any seasonal removal plan in the project discussion.
