A storage-yard perimeter can contain thousands of feet of chain-link fabric, yet one missing gate fitting can delay the handover. The purchasing unit should therefore be the completed fence schedule, even when individual components arrive as separate line items. Chain link is useful because its open mesh defines a boundary while preserving views through the perimeter.
What the Fabric Actually Provides
Chain-link fabric is interwoven wire, supplied in rolls and secured to a supporting framework. EONE's current collection includes nominal 6 ft and 8 ft high PVC-coated rolls and 8 ft galvanized rolls, each in listed 50 ft lengths. Selected examples offer 9 or 11.5 gauge wire and different mesh openings. The approved quotation, not a photograph, must identify the exact combination.
The fabric is not a complete security or structural system. Posts, terminal bracing, rails or tension wire, fittings, foundations and gates determine how the assembly functions. CLFMI's product manual treats fabric and framework as related but distinct specification subjects. Its published guidance is a reference for project professionals, not an EONE certification.
Balance Visibility, Finish and Maintenance
Open mesh can suit service yards, distribution properties and equipment enclosures where staff need to observe the boundary. It does not provide visual privacy by itself. Adding fabric screening later changes the project and requires a review of the supporting fence before procurement.
- Galvanized fabric offers a metallic appearance; define the required zinc-coating specification instead of accepting the word galvanized alone.
- PVC-coated fabric introduces color coordination with posts and gates. Confirm core-wire size separately from the finished coated diameter.
- Mesh opening, edge treatment and fabric height should suit the application. A sharper-looking edge is not automatically appropriate near public access.
For a mixed campus, the public-facing run and a back-of-house storage enclosure may need different finishes. Keeping those choices visible on the takeoff helps avoid paying for an unnecessary finish everywhere or delivering mismatched material to a prominent entrance.

Ask bidders to separate fabric, framework, gate assemblies, fittings, spare components and freight. Compare the same quantity and finish in each offer. Keep installation and foundation work visible as separate responsibilities unless expressly contracted.
EONE's View: Improve the Handover Information
Our view is that commercial chain-link supply should make field identification easier. Roll labels that identify wire, mesh, coating and selvage, together with connection-specific hardware packs, can be more useful to a crew than a generic bundle description. Send photographs and field feedback about confusing labels, fit issues or handling problems to help identify practical product and packaging improvements.
